- Disappointment!!!I was badly surprised today taking away dinner from them, when I realised the the dishes became so small.I was still hungry after the dinner.I am not going back there if they think they can charge the same and provide much less.read moreread lessDavid Dekel11/21/2021My pregnant wife and I were sat in the park when we discussed the idea of getting some thai cuisine. I had passed this restaurant on my bicycle on several occasions and so we decided to go there. The interior of the restaurant is small, ornate and quite charming. The staff were friendly and we ordered some spicy seafood soup (my pregnant wife) and a red chicken curry (me). The food was, frankly, delicious. Spicy and flavourful. Why, then, not 5 stars I hear you ask? The simple answer is that the portion sizes were slightly too small. For the price, we expected more rice and to be left full (especially as my wife is eating for two!!) We had a lovely time though. The food was high quality and we will certainly be returning to try out the rest of the menu!read moreread lessWilliam Pett4/17/2020

I love it. My friend had mixed opinions. It was too spicy for her but many things are.
It’ a small place so it smells great and really works up your appetite. The kitchen it right up front. It’s clean and fun to watch the cooks at work.
I’ve tried a couple of the vegetarian dishes and always enjoyed them.
I’ve always liked the coconut ice cream served in a coconut shell but the last time we ordered it looked old and freezer burned like it had been sitting in the back of fridge for months. When we pointed it out they were quite nice, and apologized saying it was the last one but didn’t charge us for it.read moreread less

We went here during the week and it wasn't real busy, only about half the tables were occupied. We ordered appetizers, soup and a main, and the timing on the dishes was perfect. The soups I thought were spicier then the 1 star heating rating, while the mains were less spicy then the menu lead you to believe, but despite this all the food was delicious. The service was a bit frantic as the waitress also worked the kitchen, but still friendly and helpful. Would definitly go back.read moreread less

Came here on the recommendation of other yelpers. Can't say that my experience was as good as theirs. Staff were friendly enough but we found the food way over seasoned with salt and pepper. I was not expecting the use of vermicelli for pad noodle dishes. The batter to fish ratio was way too high and could hardly taste the fish.

We were staying very close to this restaurant and decided to eat there on our first night in Amsterdam – fantastic thai. Beef massaman was lovely, as was the pad thai and red chicken curry. Special mention for the chicken and prawn spring rolls and satay chicken, totally delicious. Reminded us of our favourite thai restaurant at home. Super fast service but we were there early, not sure what it would be like when the place was full.read moreread less
Taryn R.10/20/2014It’s the Thai restaurant I know for many years now (more than 20?), and it’s atill one of the best in Amsterdam. The dishes taste different and nuanced and watching the same people cook with so much gusto really moves me. An all-time classic.
The service was okay at first as my apetizer came pretty fast, a tom yam soup. But then the main dishes took forever to make. I estimate we were waiting for more than an hour in total for those.
When they finally came, 2 curries, one green and one red, they turned out very bland and not the usual level of spiciness that I'd expect from a Thai restaurant. Especially the green curry was a disappointment.
I'm not going back here, sadly, as I liked the ambiance and the way they laid out the tables.read moreread less

Delicious food. My husband and I had a staple Thai place back in the states and I have no doubt this will become our staple in Amsterdam! Inside was very cozy with eclectic decorations. Food came quickly and staff was very friendly. Please note they do not take credit cards.read moreread less
Melissa S.11/13/2019 - interior is lovely, you can see them cook your food at the front with the open kitchen, and the decor was very authentic. plates and cutlery really reflected Thailand too!

Every now and then, you come across a restaurant that truly stands out—and Thai Deum is definitely one of those places.
I ordered the Neua Nam-Man-Hooy and asked if they could make it extra spicy. Not only did they happily accommodate my request, but when I jokingly asked if they could make it extra extra spicy, they brought me freshly made Prik Nam Pla. That level of care and authenticity immediately won me over.
The food was simply divine. Every bite was packed with incredible flavor and it genuinely tasted like it had been made with love. This was hands down one of the most flavorful Thai dishes I’ve had in Amsterdam.
What made the experience even better was the service. The team was incredibly welcoming, and I had a lovely conversation with the lady behind the cash register. It’s those personal touches that turn a great meal into a memorable experience.
Exceptional food, wonderful people, and a genuine passion for what they do. This was definitely not my last visit to Thai Deum—I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu!read moreread lessDennis Tønnesen6/20/2026 -
i'm soo happy there's a yummy thai place in my hood! my litmus test for a good thai restaurant is their pad thai. i'm happy to say their pad thai is delicious. the sauce is wonderful and squeeze a lime all over that and it's even better. i also got the basic thai salad with chicken. it wasn't the typical green papaya salad but just a lettuce salad with veggies and chicken. the salad itself is nothing special, they use iceburg. BUT… the dressing on it is out of this world. i was almost going to ask if i could buy some of it. it turned an ordinary salad into something unforgettable. i like the coziness of this place. it's not large but not to small with a wood interior and exterior. they have a full bar too! the kitchen is up front right when you walk in which is very smart. you're immediately hit with the fragrance of thai food. i wouldn't say this place is good for large groups but for 2-6 ppl tops.
the staff and chefs are all very friendly. when i'm in the mood for thai and i don't want to venture to far from home this is the place. they also do a lot of to go orders. i made sure to get a to go menu for those nights you just want to oink out at home 🙂read moreread less

The absolute _Best_Thai_ in Amsterdam!
I have been to many thai restaurants in amsterdam, and this is the one i keep coming back to.
The staff is very ! friendly, the atmosphere is excellent. The open kitchen is on the left when u enter the restaurant. The ladies in the kitchen work very hard, and the food they produce is just top notch.
You can reserve a table (dont forget, as it is very busy most of the times!) or order food to take home. No delivery unfortunately.
Please do go to this Thai restaurant if you love Thai food, their tom Kha Khai is yummmmie!!

Siz D.1/01/1970 - Andrew Fiorillo3/21/2021We hebben daar met zijn tweeën gegeten en we zijn teleurgesteld in onze verwachtingen. In Amsterdam for work and this place was close to our hotel so we decided to give it a try!
Right off the bat the service was great – the server was really helpful in navigating the menu and helping with suggestions.
The ambiance is cozy and warm and we felt very comfortable the whole meal.
Our party landed on two orders of Pad Suey (they use much smaller noodles than we are use to) but everyone agreed it was just a good! I had the red vegetable curry with rice. Very tasty…it also felt a little more healthy (less rich) than I am use to from the U.S.
Would come here again when in town next!read moreread less

First–I am not comparing this to actual Thai food, I came here fully expecting subpar interpretation of mass produced Thai food for Westerners–it is awful by that standard. It is awful by the standard of what I would expect to be served on a discount Asian airline. Expect parang curry without sauce. Or pad Thai without peanuts or spring rolls without any filling…it's the Thai food equivalent of what can be microwaved. Here's the best part–when we told them it wa bad. They said it was my problem. They should apologize the the kind people Thailand for making their food so bad.read moreread less

Consistently good authentic food and excellent service. It’s a family run business, with various members all doing their bit behind the open kitchen, but making sure to stop to thank you on entering and exiting.Only downside is that they don’t deliver, but this could be due to a number of reasons, including quality control, but I find the walk to them always worth it at the end.I would also argue the best Tod-man and yam neau in Amsterdam!read moreread lessAmmar Al-Saleh11/21/2021I’ve had dinner here and ordered takeaway numerous times. The food is tasty and reasonably priced with more authentic flavors than what you often encounter in Amsterdam. The interior is a bit old but charming and the atmosphere very relaxed.
